Salary & Compensation

This article explains the Salary tab in the employee profile, where you can view and manage all compensation components for an employee.

The Salary tab is divided into two areas: on the left, you see a summary of all compensation components (base salary, recurring compensation, bonus, and one-time payments). On the right, a monthly salary table shows the breakdown of all payments per month.

Base Salary

The base salary section shows the employee's core compensation. You can choose between two compensation types:

  • Fixed salary – A fixed annual or monthly salary. The system displays the annual salary at 100% FTE, the adjusted salary based on the employee's actual FTE percentage, and the resulting monthly gross salary.
  • Hourly wage – A fixed hourly rate.

When editing the base salary, you specify the compensation type, the effective date, and the amount. For fixed salaries, you can enter the amount based on either 100% FTE or the employee's actual FTE percentage.

Recurring Compensation

Recurring compensation covers regular additional payments beyond the base salary. Each entry includes a compensation type, effective date, amount, currency, payment frequency, and an optional comment.

Examples include travel allowances, capital-forming benefits, or other regular supplements.

Bonus

The bonus section is a separate part within recurring compensation. Three bonus models are available:

  • No bonus – The employee does not receive a bonus
  • Variable bonus – Variable bonus payments that must be manually recorded for each payroll period before payout
  • Target bonus – Performance-based bonus that is automatically suggested for each payroll period. The payment must be confirmed before payout.

For variable and target bonuses, you specify the amount, currency, and payment frequency.

One-Time Payments

One-time payments are non-recurring payments such as annual bonuses, signing bonuses, or severance payments. When adding an entry, you specify the compensation type, month, amount, currency, and an optional comment.

The one-time payments section shows the total of all one-time payments per compensation type for the current year.

Monthly Salary Table

The salary table on the right side of the tab shows a month-by-month breakdown of all compensation components. For each month, you can see:

  • The pro-rata gross salary
  • Bonus payments
  • Each recurring compensation type (e.g., travel allowance, capital-forming benefits)
  • One-time payments

This table provides a complete overview of the employee's total compensation for each month of the year.

If payroll documents have been stored in the employee's Documents tab, the corresponding payroll slip is also displayed on the far right of each month's row.

For employees with hourly wages or bonus payments, certain amounts require confirmation before they are included in the payroll export. Learn more in Confirming Hourly Wages and Bonus Payments.

Salary Data in Payroll

Compensation data from the Salary tab is automatically included in the Salary tab of the preliminary payroll table. Changes to salary data are highlighted until the next payroll approval.
